The Eastside Catholic School Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Father William Heric as interim president of Eastside Catholic School (Sammamish, WA) effective immediately.
Father Heric joined Eastside Catholic in 1999 as the school chaplain and has served as chaplain and director of campus ministry, as well as ex-officio member of the board of trustees. Father Heric has also served as a priest of the Archdiocese of Seattle since 1981 and as a parish priest at Holy Innocents Parish in Duvall and St. Jude Parish in Redmond.
Father Heric will serve as interim president until a permanent successor is hired. In addition, he will continue to fill his role as school chaplain.
"Father Heric's long history with and deep love for our school community made him the natural choice to help lead us through another exceptional school year while we search for a permanent president,” said Board Chair Sheryl Medeiros. “We are grateful for his commitment to serve Eastside Catholic in whatever capacity we may need."
As interim president, Father Heric’s charge is to continue the strong relationship with the board of trustees and to provide leadership and guidance with a focus on the school mission and touchstones as he works collaboratively with faculty, staff and administrators to achieve the goals outlined in the newly released 2017-23 Strategic Plan.
“I am deeply humbled and honored to serve as the interim president for a school I love with all of my heart,” Heric said. “I look forward to a great coming school year and to working with all members of the Eastside Catholic community and our friends in forming our students to be brilliant examples of God’s goodness, beauty, truth and love in our world.”
Father Heric received his bachelor's degree in humanities and philosophy from St. Thomas Seminary and was awarded his Master of Divinity from the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley, California as well as a master's in counseling from Seattle University.
