Leadership + Design - Equity And Inclusion Design Studio

This Event Has Reached Capacity and Registration Is Closed

Who Should Attend

This one-day design studio is aimed at teams wanting to design solutions for their school, and in a perfect world, each school would send 4-6 people from their school to work in a team.  However, given that it is not always possible to send a team of that size, smaller teams, duos or people that are solo members from their school are welcome.  Whether you attend alone or in a group, there is a spot for you.  Participants that do not have team members from their own school will be teamed up, and if you come with a group from your school, you will be able to work as a team.   There is no wrong way to do it.

Workshop Description

Equity and inclusion is paramount in all schools.   From the way a school talks about what they do, to hiring, to the educational program, to the way a school feels, creating a school that is intentionally equitable as well as inclusive has never been more critical.   Much of the professional development that happens in this space is educational, however, this particular day of design is focused to help teams and individuals do the work of designing solutions together focused specifically on this topic.  Teams will leave this studio day with a prototype for an idea to implement, a program to create, or even possibly a new spin on process or program that already exists.   Leadership + Design helps teams build capacity, create connections and conversations, and along with those priorities, participants will also have fun and find new colleagues doing similar work in their association.

About the Facilitators

Leadership + Design specializes in highly collaborative and active professional development.  L+D facilitators all have been or are school leaders and bring a depth of experience mixing content expertise group/collaborative facilitation skills.   Joyful and human, an L+D run event is fun, engaging and expertly organized.   When dealing with complex topics like Equity, Inclusion, White-Privilege, Race or when helping teams design around topics where 100% agreement is both impossible and not in the best interest of the work, L+D has the experience and skill to help teams move through, not around those moments.  Because of this approach, L+D builds capacity in every event, creates connections and encourages people to have deep and nuanced conversation.  Susan Scott, author of Fierce Conversations says, "The conversation is the relationship", and this statement is indicative of how L+D facilitators think about their work with individuals and teams.
