Lakeside School, an independent 5-12 coeducational day school located in North Seattle is currently recruiting for an upper school long term substitute math teacher to cover a maternity leave of absence. This non-benefit eligible .75 FTE position will begin early March 2020 and continue through the end of the school year in mid-June 2020.

Responsibilities
The math teacher position, reporting to the Upper School Mathematics Department Head, will join a department consisting of 11 highly collaborative faculty members who teach courses with a maximum class size of 18 students per class.

  1. Teach one section of AP level Statistics and two sections of Algebra 2.
  2. Coordinate with other teachers of the same courses on curriculum and assessment.
  3. Assign grades and write evaluations of students at the end of the quarter.
  4. Maintain class webpage on Haiku on a regular basis.
  5. Conference with students and colleagues.
  6. Attend relevant department and faculty meetings as scheduled.

Requirements and Qualifications

  1. Local resident of the Seattle metropolitan area.
  2. Bachelor's degree in mathematics or another relevant field.
  3. Experience working with high-school aged mathematics learners.
  4. General computer literacy and comfort using graphic calculators, shared drives, spreadsheets.
  5. Experience teaching introductory Statistics.
  6. Experience working collaboratively on a teaching team.
  7. Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. The candidate will understand different perspectives; interact respectfully with cultures other than their own; and cultivate meaningful relationships with people that have different cultural frameworks.
  8. Candidates must satisfactorily complete two criminal background checks.
