JOB OVERVIEW:

This member of the administrative staff, working closely with the Lower School Director and the Middle School Director, will provide leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, implementation, development, direction, review and evaluation of Villa's curriculum and instructional assessment, research and evaluation services. The Director will ensure that Villa Academy's educational objectives are aligned to state/accreditation frameworks and to the best instructional practices that yield the highest standards of student achievement and instructional excellence. The Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment reports to the Head of School and participates as a member of Villa's administrative team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • A Master’s Degree in Teaching; Educational Leadership; Curriculum & Instruction, or similar academic preparation;
  • At least 5 years of classroom teaching experience with demonstrable instructional excellence;
  • Demonstrable experience in curricula development and a variety of student assessment tools, employing the highest in academic standards.
  • Familiarity with independent, private, Catholic schools preferred.
  • Familiarity with STEAM education; outdoor learning/education & 21st Century Skills

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Commitment to the Mission, Vision and Core Values of Villa Academy;
  • Ability to collaborate and team with colleagues;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development;
  • Implement and lead a schedule of and procedures for regular curriculum review;
  • Provide curricular alignment and oversight across grade levels;
  • Ensure curricular alignment with the WA State Essential Academic Learning Requirements;
  • Develop and implement a plan to review assessment practices at Villa Academy and regularly audit the efficacy of the plan.
