The SEL coordinator leads our ongoing mission-based efforts to maintain, expand, and cultivate our existing SEL program that is tailored to the specific needs of our community. The SEL Coordinator will serve as a resource for our community including faculty and parents. The SEL Coordinator will collaborate with all stakeholders to facilitate, deliver, and support SEL programming for our K-5 students while maintaining professional and confidentiality practices.

  • In collaboration with the Assistant Head and faculty develops and supports the implementation of SEL curriculum
  • Leads SEL professional development for faculty
  • In collaboration with the Assistant Head of School and the Approach to Learning team, interprets Neuropsychological and Educational evaluations and creates plans of support and intervention
  • In collaboration with Approach to Learning team and faculty, develops and manages Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) focused on SEL support and behavior management
  • Communicates and collaborates closely with families to coordinate support and to provide resources
  • Works with the Director of Enrollment Management to support school efforts to skillfully balance learner needs across the student body
  • In collaboration with the Director of Equity and Inclusion, acts as a resource for faculty and staff in providing emotional and social support for students/families of diverse backgrounds
  • In collaboration with teaching faculty, supports students social-emotional development through small-group and whole group instruction

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong understanding of the social-emotional needs of elementary students, including, but not limited to, knowledge of developmental characteristics and milestones, executive functioning, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD
  • Culturally competent and responsive to equity and inclusion needs in the community
  • Flexible collaborator with strong written and oral communication
  • Experience with trauma-informed education
  • Ability and desire to form strong and positive relationships with all community members
  • Experience with an RTI approach
  • Knowledge of how to support mental health and well-being in young children including, anxiety and depression

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of and experience with elementary SEL curriculum and resources
  • Three years minimum experience in elementary education and/or mental health
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree in relevant field, preferred
