Seattle Academy is a dynamic community that challenges students to question, imagine, and create in order to contribute boldly to a changing world. We are seeking an Alumni Relations Associate to join our development team to further engage SAAS alumni beyond graduation. SAAS serves 1,050 students in grades 6-12. This role is responsible for designing and executing an alumni relations strategy to achieve both engagement and philanthropic objectives. This person is a member of a development team that includes the Director of Development, Director of Annual Giving, two Major Gift Directors, and a Database Manager. The Alumni Relations Associate will report to the Director of Annual Giving and work closely with the marketing and communications team.


This position is responsible for building a robust and strategic SAAS alumni program seeking to engage graduates in social, academic, athletic, and philanthropic opportunities, including events, reunions, and communications. We seek an outgoing and energetic school advocate to serve as a liaison with both alumni students and parents. In addition, this role will provide the Development Team with donor prospect research, administrative support, and campaign assistance.


  • Receive all incoming alumni communications and requests
  • Partner with the Director of Development and Director of Marketing and Communications to develop content for publications, social media accounts, and alumni notes and profiles
  • Seek and draft a pipeline of alumni stories and photos for future publication
  • Build and maintain collegial relationships with alumni that encourages continued connection and engagement with the school
  • Support the work of the Alumni Board, including recruitment, engagement, and guidance
  • Receive alumni visitors and tour as needed to create a welcoming atmosphere
  • Create avenues for alumni to network for employment and internships
  • Facilitate opportunities for alumni to engage with current students as guest speakers or mentors
  • Develop, market, and execute an array of annual events aimed at engaging alumni locally, regionally, and nationally


  • Partner with the Development Team to develop and execute alumni Annual Fund solicitation strategies aimed at increased donor participation
  • Engage alumni in SAAS in the City volunteer roles
  • Complete prospect research and donor profiles
  • Support major gift efforts as requested by the Director of Development


  • Bachelor’s degree; SAAS Graduate or graduate of a peer independent school preferred
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Articulate, welcoming, outgoing, energetic demeanor
  • Strong technology skills, including database management and social media outlets
  • Experience in event planning; strong organizational skills
  • Ability to keep sensitive information confidential
  • Ability to work independently or as a collaborative member of a team
  • Willingness to flex work hours as needed to attend event and meet deadlines and the
  • demands of workflow
