Part-Time Temporary Position

The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Middle School team as a Part-Time Temporary Math Faculty member. We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that demonstrates an understanding and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and intercultural fluency.

This position reports directly to the school’s Middle School Division Director and is a part-time temporary faculty position that is scheduled to teach seventh grade Geometry in the morning from 7:30am to 8:30am (note: days of week have yet to be determined). Also, this position is scheduled to begin employment on January 4, 2021 and conclude employment on or about June 16, 2021.

While other duties may be assigned, a qualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities and duties listed below:

  • Teach seventh grade students Geometry in an environment where students are challenged and encouraged to learn
  • Support students in the development of reliable mathematical habits, content knowledge and skills
  • Communicate expertise in mathematics through organized lessons, technology and guided practice
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine the Middle School math curriculum
  • Teach two sections of Geometry (the number of sections is dependent upon student enrollment and may be subject to change)
  • Be available to respond to student/parent/faculty questions by email and/or in person
  • Conscientiously complete other duties as assigned

Professional Experience:

  • Experience teaching math is required (at least 3 years is preferred)
  • A bachelor’s degree in math or related field is required
  • A graduate degree in math or education is preferred
  • A Teacher Certification is preferred

Successful candidates will:

  • Possess a philosophy of education that aligns with the school’s mission and values
  • Be able to work effectively remotely and in-person on campus, depending on the school’s needs
  • Demonstrate positive and effective classroom management skills
  • Exhibit an understanding of development for middle school students
  • Communicate clearly and timely (verbally and in writing) with others, including administrators, colleagues, staff and families in order to maintain constructive and professional relationships
  • Complete work in a timely and thorough manner and be conscientious about responsibilities and deadlines
  • Be skilled in the use of technology: including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite, Google (e.g. Docs and Sheets), Video Conferencing, e.g. Zoom
  • Be patient and positive and find joy in the journey of promoting a lifelong love of learning
