Title: After School (Extended Day) Coordinator

Reports to: Director of the Early Learning Center and Extended Day

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

When Needed: 2021-22 School Year

FT/PT: Full-Time (9:30 – 6:00)

We are seeking an After School (Extended Day) Coordinator committed to helping us advance our vision and achieve our mission of developing responsible citizens of a global society. Under minimal supervision provide an exemplary Extended Day program for our students.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Oversees staff in extended day program (AM and PM)
  • Maintains appropriate staffing levels (student/staff ratios) in all extended care
  • Plans appropriate and engaging activities for a range of ages within the Extended Day program and PreSchool/PK Enrichment classes
  • Serves as an instructor within the Extended Day and Enrichment Program
  • Manages budget for Extended Day
  • Orders and inventories supplies for Extended Day
  • Coordinates with Dining Program regarding snacks for Extended Day
  • Develops and supports student registration materials and procedures
  • Maintains licensing for extended day programs (includes maintenance of all related documentation) and ensures compliance
  • Coordinates with the Business Office to ensure accurate billing for extended day services
  • Maintains student records as appropriate (authorizations, medications, allergies)
  • Provides classroom and teacher support
  • Serves as an in-house backup substitute when necessary

General:

  • Develops positive, collegial relations with co-workers with a regard for the dignity and social/emotional wellbeing of others and supports community decision-making processes
  • Enthusiastically engages in his/her own professional development
  • Establishes and cultivates community relations by maintaining open and candid dialogue with all of the school’s constituencies
  • Observes laws and the school’s policies, procedures and regulations which have application to and implication for the professional’s responsibilities
  • Is familiar with and complies with all policies and regulations as put forth in the school’s documents
  • Participates in applicable planning meetings
  • Participates in Committees as required/desired
  • Participates in and is a lead for recess duties
  • Provides lunch, snack, and nap supervision
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree, with an emphasis in early childhood, elementary and/or middle school education expertise or related areas from a four-year college or university preferred
  • Washington State Department of Children, Youth, Families - MERIT registration required
  • Experience in an early childhood/elementary education - experience with before and after school preferred
  • Experience supervising staff required

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Familiarity with current learning theories and basic principles of human growth and development and ability to consider them in the design and implementation of learning experiences
  • Ability to manage the non-instructional human dynamics in the educational setting
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of the children and the program
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Ability to work collaboratively in team situations
  • Proficient at working in a Microsoft Windows environment (Windows 10 or higher) ability to master common automated systems for record keeping, and confidently learn new technology
  • Proficient at working in a Microsoft Office environment (Word and Excel)
  • Ability to work and communicate well with all levels of faculty and staff
  • Ability to work and communicate well with students and their parents
  • Ability to work outside in all weather
