The Northwest School is a college-preparatory, co-educational independent school near the heart of downtown Seattle. We offer a rich and challenging program to roughly 450 students in grades 6 through 12, including international students, many of whom live in our campus dormitory. The Human Resources and Benefits Coordinator has overall responsibility for employee benefits administration and provides general employment support to the HR office. This is a 75% time position and hours of work will total 30 per week. This position is eligible for school benefits.

Essential Functions:

Administer the employee benefits program by explaining benefits to new employees, ensuring benefits enrollment paperwork is complete and submitted to various benefits carriers. Process monthly payments to benefits carriers and serve as point of contact for benefits vendors.

Maintain employee data using various systems; process new and exiting employees and employment changes.

Serve as the data and compliance expert for the Human Resources office: compile and submit various reports, ensure compliance obligations are met, respond to employment verifications, unemployment and Labor and Industry claims, calculate and submit annual ACA reports, and support annual 403b plan audit by compiling data and ensuring it is correct.

Serve as the first point of contact for employees for answers to various questions about employment matters, policies, and benefits.

Serve a key role in the employee onboarding process by meeting with new employees, organizing their first day at Northwest, collaborating with other departments on the onboarding process and schedule.

Support the employee recruiting process by providing administrative support to search committees and the Director of HR, including scheduling meetings, candidate communication, interview schedules, and creating and distributing tools.

Serve as an editor and content generator for the employee intranet site using Microsoft SharePoint.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the schools mission, values, and philosophy, especially related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and environmental sustainability.

An associates degree and a minimum of 2 years demonstrated work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.

Additionally, all candidates must possess: a strong attention to detail, excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to use judgment and keep strict confidentiality.

High emotional intelligence which supports the ability to interact with diverse audiences and maintain positive relationships throughout the school and with external constituents.

Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems. Ability to exercise diplomacy and discretion. Excellent organizational skills.

Aptitude for learning and working with new software.

Intermediate to expert in Microsoft Office applications including Teams, Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Experience creating and hosting Zoom meetings.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using Paycom software is highly preferred.
Experience working in an independent education or non-profit environment is preferred

Experience using Microsoft SharePoint

Compensation:
Hourly rate is $24 - $26 per hour for 30 hours per week.
