The Bush School is in search of an individual to join our Business Office team as the Student Accounts and Business Office Coordinator. We are seeking a candidate who is able to support the school’s mission of diversity and inclusion and who has a background that demonstrates an understanding and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and intercultural fluency.

The Student Accounts and Business Office Coordinator reports directly to the school’s Assistant Head for Finance and Operations (“AHFO”) while working closely with members of the Business Office, as well as other school departments, e.g. development, enrollment, Head of School’s Office.

While other duties may be assigned, a qualified candidate will be able to manage the key responsibilities listed below:

  • Record all transactions related to student billing, for example: tuition, payments and adjustments
  • Prepare monthly tuition statements
  • Communicate with families regarding their tuition accounts and follow-up on outstanding matters
  • Process all checks and cash deposits
  • Assist the accounting department with: reconciliations and related closing processes, posting of credit cards, financial aid related programs, pre-paid expenses and other monthly and quarterly allocations
  • Provide support to the full life cycle of annual audits
  • Deliver monthly budget reports and related audit information to division directors and department chairs
  • Reconcile gifts and pledges with the school’s development office
  • Prepare correspondence and a variety of documents and presentations using Word, PowerPoint and Excel while also proofreading for content, format and edits
  • Be of support to the AHFO, to include answering/directing calls, managing the calendar and overseeing logistical needs of meetings
  • Complete special projects, as assigned by the AHFO
  • Organize and maintain filing system of the Business Office
  • Maintain necessary supplies within the Business Office
  • Be the point of contact for the Business Office

Professional Competencies and Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree is required; however, equivalent years of relevant experience will be accepted in place of a bachelor’s degree
  • College level coursework in related field, e.g. accounting, finance is preferred
  • Experience in the accounting/finance field required, with 2 or more years of experience preferred
  • Experience working in a school or non-profit environment is preferred
  • Experience with the lifecycle of financial audits from initial preparation phase through final reporting phase is preferred

  • Be organized
  • Be flexible and have the ability to work collaboratively and collegially with others
  • Proficient with using accounting systems
  • Have fluency in the use of technology, including: Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive, Outlook and Financial Management Database Platforms
