The Northwest School is a college-preparatory, co-educational independent school near the heart of downtown Seattle. We offer a rich and challenging program to roughly 500 students in grades 6 through 12, including 80 international students, many of whom live in our campus dormitory. The Northwest School is currently seeking 4 part time bus drivers for our newly developed morning bus service. These routes will pick up at 2-3 stops at various locations and drop off the students at school.


This person will work closely with the Transportation Manager and Assistant Manager to ensure each route is run smoothly and safely.
School bus drivers must be attentive to traffic and weather conditions while staying on schedule and ensuring the safety of passengers. They must ensure that their vehicles are operating properly each day by testing brakes, tires and other components. Drivers are also responsible for maintaining a safe environment within the bus by enforcing rules of conduct and responding to emergencies. They must keep track of the amount of fuel used and miles driven, which they typically report to the supervisor each week.

We offer:
Guaranteed 4 Hours on school days (Working AM shift)*
Monday-Friday scheduled, with additional afternoon, evening and weekends available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Drive students to school as scheduled in a safe and timely manner.
• Maintain communication with Transportation Manager and Assistant Manager for trip changes and procedures.
• Provide daily pre-trip/ post trip, documentation of mileage, fueling on vehicles.
• Report all safety-related concerns to Transportation Manager in a timely manner.
• Participate in meetings when requested.
• Follow the personnel policies of The Northwest School as outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
• Perform other duties as may be reasonably assigned to this position.
• Assist students in the loading and unloading process.

Minimum Qualifications:

All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the school’s mission, values, and philosophy, especially related to diversity and the environment.

School bus drivers are required to hold commercial driver's licenses (CDLs), obtained through Washington State department of transportation.

High school diploma or equivalent and at least seven (7) years licensed driving experience.
Good verbal communication skills
Minimum of 21 years old
Experience driving a school bus with endorsements
Ability to pass a background check, drug screen & physical
Ability to perform basic bus housekeeping
Clean driving record.
Experience working with students, aged 11-18.


Compensation:
Salary is $21.00 per hour
