Position Overview: duties & responsibilities

Annie Wright opened the Upper School for Boys in Fall 2017, and for the 2019-2020 academic year, we will open our third grade level of USB students (Grades 9, 10, 11) and anticipate the completion of a new academic building for the division. As the school grows, the team of faculty, administrators, and students is working closely to develop a rigorous program, a caring environment, and implementation of best practices for boys’ learning. The Upper School for Boys Spanish Teacher:

  • Teaches Spanish at multiple levels, including IB Diploma (equivalent to Spanish 4 and 5), in alignment with the mission and philosophy of Annie Wright Schools and with the International Baccalaureate framework;
  • Provides leadership for and works closely with colleagues in the USB and other Divisions to develop the acquired language program schoolwide and for the Upper School for Boys, as well as to implement the curriculum using best practices in teaching, student-centered instruction, and relevant educational technologies;
  • Fulfills all faculty duties, especially good communication with families about student progress.

Qualifications

The USB Spanish Teacher:

  • Holds a BA in Spanish, Education, or a related field;
  • Has experience teaching high school Spanish and demonstrates ability to teach multiple levels;
  • Is familiar with the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme;
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for working with high school boys and for the subject, and familiarity with trends in language acquisition.

Salary & benefits

Compensation includes competitive benefits and salary commensurate with experience. There is also the potential to combine this position with a dorm parent role which includes room and board.
