The Lakeside Educational Enrichment Program (LEEP) is looking for counselors for the 2019 summer program. Counselors will be responsible for supporting their assigned lead teachers and mentoring student participants. This is a full-time position during the summer session from late June through early August.

Responsibilities
Teaching teams will consist of two counselors, one teacher, and approximately 20 students. Counselor responsibilities include:

  1. Help with team planning, assist with instruction and tutoring, and supervision of students;
  2. Attend enrichment activities which may include swim lessons, service learning work group, outdoor education field experiences, and overnight camping trip;
  3. Assist during culminating program fair and luncheon;
  4. Support the overall program through additional roles or projects such as assembly emcee, promotional video, summer book, breakfast bar, etc. with other LEEP personnel.

Work Day/Schedule
The following outlines the required hours of work and events for Counselors:
  1. First Aid/CPR Training: June 28 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., if necessary.
  2. Staff Orientation Week: June 27 - July 5 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. each day, July 4 is a holiday.
  3. Summer Program: July 8 - August 2 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. each day.
  4. Overnight Outdoor Trip: July 25 - 26; 2 days and 1 night, rising 6th grade cohort only.
  5. Closing Events: August 2 from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Requirements/Qualifications:
  1. Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. The candidate will understand different perspectives; interact respectfully with cultures other than their own; and cultivate meaningful relationships with people that have different cultural frameworks.
  2. Candidates must satisfactorily complete two criminal background checks.
Compensation
First-time counselors will be paid $2,300 in two installments, for the five weeks of their LEEP employment. Compensation credit will be given for returning counselors. A daily lunch is provided.
