4th-5th Grade Teacher
|School Name||KapKa Cooperative School|
|City, State||Seattle, WA|
Who We Are
KapKa is a small, cooperative elementary school celebrating our 30th year as a dynamic community of children, parents and teachers working together to create an inclusive, experiential learning environment that fosters compassionate and capable lifelong learners. While we were, for most of that time, a school for grades K-2, over the past several years we have expanded through fifth grade, adding teachers and staff and moving into our current location on the border of the Fremont and Phinney neighborhoods just one block from Woodland Park, allowing us to spend a good part of each day learning and playing outdoors.
Please see our Values Statements to read about how we support children in their learning at KapKa.
KapKa Cooperative School is seeking a full-time 4th/5th grade Teacher to join our teaching team beginning in the fall of 2019. Our experiential approach to learning means we need someone who will collaborate actively and effectively with the rest of the teaching staff to create student-centered and experiential (project-based) curricula that integrates all subjects as appropriate, with a strong commitment to social-emotional learning as the heart of what we do.
We seek an individual who welcomes change, creativity and collaboration and values community to join us in growing our unique progressive school.
Please see our Pedagogy Statements for a full description of how we teach at KapKa.
The new 4-5 team member will have at least a Bachelor's degree and either
and preferably all of the above.
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
To apply, please send cover letter and résumé to email@example.com. We will conduct 30-minute phone interviews and request a statement of educational philosophy as well as a sample lesson or unit of study from all candidates. We will ask top candidates to prepare and present a demonstration lesson and to interview with a representative group of teachers and administrators before making our decision, ideally by early May.
