The Marylhurst School is an independent school located in West Linn. The Marylhurst School holds a 47 year history of progressive, child-centered education. Preschool, primary and middle school programs feature an emergent curriculum, 6:1 teacher-child ratios, Spanish language classes, enrichment programs in art and science, before and after-care, and parenting workshops.
The Marylhurst School seeks an elementary lead or assistant teacher to start fall of 2019. We seek a teacher who will collaborate with a teaching partner. All teaching is done in teams, and our new teacher will be required to communicate and cooperate with team members.
Teach with knowledge of subject materials and a passion for education.
Be aware of appropriate standards.
Experience and success with team planning and teaching.
Prepare for classes and return student assessments promptly.
Provide clearly defined student evaluation system.
Write student narratives.
Work with students outside of class as is appropriate or necessary.
Maintain high standards for student behavior in and out of the classroom.
Evaluate course materials and work with leadership to develop new courses as needed.
Be available and responsive to parents.
Prepare and attend parent/teacher conferences.
Attend school activities.
Attend faculty meetings.
Be committed to ongoing professional growth and development.
Work to build school culture and program.
Chaperone, proctor, and fulfill school duties as assigned.
BA/BS in education or related field.
Experience teaching preschool/elementary school.
Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
MA/MS or equivalent in education or related field.
Two years experience teaching elementary school, supporting struggling students and extending accelerated students.
Demonstrated and successful history with innovation in the teaching and project based learning
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Intercultural competency, ability to interact appropriately with a diverse array of people.
Interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain collegial relationships with colleagues.
Primarily classroom environment
Requires some lifting of up to 20 pounds
Faculty salary scale based on degree and years of experience.
