We are proud to announce that Fabiana Pulido was honored by the National Hispanic Recognition Program (NHRP). Like the National Merit Scholarship program, the NHRP is designed to distinguish Hispanic/Latino students who meet the qualifying score requirements on the Preliminary SAT (PSAT).
“Fabiana is a talented student, emerging leader and selfless volunteer,” Acting High School Principal Ryan Aiello said. “She epitomizes EC’s Touchstones and we’re thrilled that she earned this well-deserved recognition.”
NHRP eligibility requires that students take the PSAT during junior year, are at least one-quarter Hispanic/Latino, achieve the minimum required PSAT Selection Index score and earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher. Each year, the NHRP recognizes about 7,000 of the 250,000 Hispanic/Latino juniors who take the PSAT. Recognition by the NHRP places Fabiana in the top 2.5% of all Hispanic/Latino juniors who took the PSAT last year. Recognized students are from the United States, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, the Mariana Islands, and the Marshall Islands, or are citizens studying abroad.
Fabiana is undecided on where she would like to attend college but is currently applying to several universities and will go to college on a pre-health professional track to eventually pursue a career in the health care field. When asked for advice for underclassmen, she offered, “Be bold and put yourself out there! Go after what you are passionate about and surround yourself with people who share your passions. Don’t be afraid to try things totally out of your comfort zone because you might end up discovering a talent or passion you didn’t know you had!”
