Profile

The Gardner School of Arts & Sciences is a progressive preschool through 8th-grade school located on a beautiful, 5-acre country campus in the Salmon Creek area of Vancouver, Washington.

Multi-age classes, integrated learning, application of Howard Gardner's theory of Multiple Intelligences and addressing differing learning styles are the framework for teaching and learning at The Gardner School.

At the core of our work with students is the recognition that people think and learn differently and that intelligence can be expressed in a multitude of ways.

We are committed to immersing children in the exploration of interesting problems and ideas; our school curriculum is organized around school-wide themes which match the developmental levels of the students. We place an emphasis on contextual learning to build the deep understanding essential for mastery and the transfer of information. Multi-age classrooms support collaborative work, as well as individualized projects. Building community is a major focus of the school.
